About Me
Hey, I’m Darren! I picked up the guitar at 14 and got instantly hooked not just on playing, but on figuring out how everything worked and why it sounded the way it did.
By 16, I was already messing around with my own guitar just for fun… and turns out,
I really enjoyed fixing stuff (and thankfully, I didn’t break too many things along the way).
After NS, I was lucky to be offered an apprenticeship by one of Singapore’s top luthier… something I’m still super grateful for. He patiently entertained my endless questions about guitars, basses, finishes, frets, setups, tone… you name it.
Eventually I joined a local guitar company that builds and ships guitars worldwide (iykyk), and got formal training from Taylor, Martin, and even authorised by Gibson to QC their guitars.
Fast forward two years and now, with lots of encouragement from friends and fam,
I took the leap of faith and started Core Tone Singapore 🎸
Here's to growing together, sharing the love for the craft, and making sure your instrument feels like home again.
Thanks for being part of the journey!

Mentors & Friends Who Shaped My Journey
Luthiery is a lifelong craft of learning. I’m grateful for the masters and friends who poured out their wealth of knowledge and wisdom along the way. Someone once said we are often shaped in the middle; every instrument, challenge, and lesson continues to refine the luthier I’m becoming.
